We speak to professional football player Albin Ekdal, raising his voice against homophobia and taking a stand for equality on the pitch: ”It should be fun and exciting to tell someone that you are in love.”

When born and raised in Bromma, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden, football was without doubt Ekdal’s biggest passion and his goal was always to become a professional player. And, dreams do come true, since he was bought by Juventus, the biggest football club in Italy, when he was 18.

— So I moved there straight after finishing school in Stockholm. Since then I have been a professional footballer in Italy for 8 years and in Germany for 3 years, he tells.

Right before Stockholm Pride festival last summer, Ekdal did an interview with the biggest Swedish newspaper, pointing out that everyone should be welcome into the world of football, regardless of who you love, where you are from and what color your skin have.
